What is Raptoreum?

Raptoreum is a powerful, flexible, and secure POW (Proof Of Work) blockchain and asset platform that will feature NFT/NFTS, Smart Contracts, and futures. It is being developed to address problems seen on other blockchains as well as bring in new and innovative ways of addressing these problems. Raptoreum development began in November of 2018 and was originally a code fork of RVN (Ravencoin). After multiple bugs, exploits, and security concerns with RVN, the Raptoreum team decided to drop the Ravencoin codebase and move to a fully customized code fork of DASH (August 2020).

Raptoreum created an algorithm code named GhostRider. This algorithm was designed to keep ASICS and FPGAs off of the network by making entry cost prohibitive and risky. This allows anybody to mine Raptoreum with their CPU and earn a reasonable amount of RTM coins. 

The fact that anyone anywhere can contribute to the network and earn should increase the project’s decentralization, unlike networks where ASIC are present or GPU have such a large advantage that CPUs become obsolete. 

Futures: how to use them?

Futures are a feature on the Raptoreum blockchain that allow users to plan the release of funds by timed events or countdowns. Futures work with smart contracts on the blockchain to ensure the funds are locked as required and released when they are due.

Futures can be set and used through the RaptoreumCore software. Both the GUI and CLI packages support handling Futures and/or setting them up.

Raptoreum Features

Currently active:

• ASIC/FPGA Resistant GhostRider Algorithm.
  GhostRider is an algorithm created specifically for Raptoreum. It was built to discourage specialty hardware such as ASIC & FPGA enabling anybody to competitively mine it and increase overall decentralization.
• 51%/ Double Spend Protection.
  LLMQ & Chainlocks have been active since March 04 2021 protecting the Raptoreum network from 51% / double spend attacks. The activation of Chainlocks makes Raptoreum one of the most secure Cryptocurrency and asset platforms available today.
• Custom Emissions & Rewards.
  Raptoreum has implemented a custom reward structure that not only makes Raptoreum emissions smooth, but also unique. In addition Raptoreum also used a tiered Smartnode collateral and reward system which avoided hyperinflation. A common and potentially devastating problem with many projects that use Masternodes.

Planned features:

• Easy & Powerful Asset Platform.
  Raptoreum is adding an asset layer that will allow anybody to quickly and easily create a non fungible asset/token. Trustless on chain transfers of these assets will be possible once smart contracts have been added.
• Raptoreum Features.
  Lock RTM coins or assets into a special transaction, and have them automatically released at a certain blockheight or timestamp.
• Multi Language Smart Contracts.
  Raptoreum’s smart contracts will be stored and executed on Smartnodes, this allows greater scaling, and avoids the congestion issues seen on Ethereum. Additionally, this allows for greater flexibility in allowed programming languages. 3-4 major programming languages will be available for Raptoreum’s smart contracts.
